Windows Explorer is the most used file manager and it's popular among Windows users. That's because it's simple to use, intuitive and has features that everyone can use. But despite the popularity of Windows Explorer, the file manager lacks some features. For example, users cannot save folder reports, which would be useful in numerous situations. You may wish to show the content of a certain application or partition to a friend, but you don 't want to write each folder name manually. Fortunately, there are alternative applications which offer this feature.

One of them is FolderView. As the name clearly suggests, this Windows application allows you to save lists of folders as text files on your hard disk, but also offers the functionality and simpleness of Windows Explorer. Installing this Windows program is a simple task, as a few clicks are enough to get the program into your system. After the program is installed, the user will notice that its interface pretty much resembles the one of Windows Explorer.

Using shortcut keys, the user will be able to perform file and folder operations, just like he would in Windows Explorer. But the main feature of FolderView is the fact that one can save folder reports as text files and can even print them. When saving folder names as a text file, the creation date and time for each folder will be displayed. Besides saving folder lists as text files, the application can also print them directly.

What's more, one can change the display font for the file and folder names.

Pros

It allows you to save folder lists as text files or print them directly. Besides that, the interface is simple and resembles the one of Windows Explorer.

Cons

The number of available features and options is a bit limited for the majority of users. FolderView is the perfect solution for saving text reports regarding the list of folders stored on your hard disk.
